Santos, partners commence 3D seismic acquisition in Jeruk discovery area

Australian oil company Cue Energy Resources announced on Monday that 3D seismic acquisition had begun in Jeruk discovery area in Sampang PSC, offshore East Java.

The survey, according to Cue, is designed to provide better seismic control over the Jeruk discovery and over nearby undrilled prospects. Acquisition of field data is expected to take to the end of April to be followed by three months of data processing.

Cue said further that acquisition of 3D seismic data over the eastern end of Sampang PSC area has been completed and the data has been processed. Information on the eastern survey will be used to potentially locate drilling location for wildcat wells to be drilled in the second half of 2005.

Jeruk-2 well, which was drilled on a sole risk basis flowed 7,488 barrels of oil and 2.21 million cubic feet of gas per day on test last year. The well was drilled on 50:50 interest between operator Santos Limited and Medco Energi International Tbk. Preliminary estimates put the recoverable reserves number at 170 MMBO. Sampang participants; Cue Eenergy and Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC), which hold 15 percent and 40 percent interest in Sampang PSC has right to reinstate their interests in the well. (alex)
