Santos, partners to drill more well in Sampang PSC, E. Java

Australian oil and gas company Santos Limited plans to drill one more well in Sampang production sharing contract (PSC) area, offshore East Java this year, according to the company?s second quarter results announcement Wednesday.

Santos said it planned to spud Anggur-3 well sometime in the third quarter of this year.

Earlier, Santos had drilled Anggur Utara-1 well and Anggur-2 well as follow up wells to Anggur 1well in Sampang PSC. Anggur Utara ?1 was plugged and abandoned after reaching the target depth of 1,110 meters, while Anggur-2 sustaiend an uncontrolled water blowout from a depth of 409 meters and was subsequently abandoned by drilling rig.

Santos said the target to drill Anggur-3 was to find gas.

Santos also announced earlier oil and gas finds in Oyong-1 well, which is located near Anggur wells, with the thickness of a 110-meter gas column and a gross oil column up to 38 meters in Mundu formation.

Oyong-2 was then spudded with the objective evaluating the hydrocarbon column intersected in Mundu formation discovered by Oyong-1 and of penetrating and evaluating deeper objective not reached by Oyong-1.

The company said Oyong-2 was currently drilling towards the deeper primary objectives.

Santos holds 45 percent interest and operatorship of Sampang PSC, while Coastal Indonesia Sampang Limited and Cue hold 40 percent and 15 percent interest, respectively. (alex)
