Santos, partners to spud East Java exploration well

Australian oil company Cue Energy Resources said on Friday that Mangga-1 exploration well in Sampang PSC offshore East Java was expected to be spudded in September 26.

Cue said the prospect is estimated to contain 110 billion cubic feet (BCF) to 320 BCF of recoverable gas.

According to Cue, the well would test the Mundu formation within a four-way dip closure. The PSC partnership had already strike oil and gas in Oyong, which is ready to be commercialized within the next few years.

Australian oil company Santos Limited holds 45 percent working interest and operatorship of Sampang PSC, while El Paso?s Coastal Indonesia Sampang and Cue hold 40 percent and 15 percent, respectively. (alex)
