Santos reports Q2 Indonesian output

Australian oil and gas company Santos Limited's gas sales in Indonesia declined to 1.2 petajoules (PJ) or about 206,324 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) in the second quarter of 2006, from 1.3 PJ or 223,518 boe in the same quarter last year.

Meanwhile, the company?s crude oil production increased to 28,400 barrels in the second quarter of the year from 22,900 barrels in the same quarter of last year, but was lower from the output in the first quarter of the year, which stood at 34,200 barrels, the company said in its quarterly report released on Thursday.

Santos participates in two producing blocks in Indonesia, that is the Brantas block in East Java and the Kakap block of West Natuna with 18 percent and 9 percent working interests, respectively. Aside from the two blocks, Santos operates and participates in several exploration blocks in the country.

According to the quarterly report, Santos will carry out drilling exploration at two prospects in East Java in third quarter of 2006. Meanwhile, drillings at three exploration wells in East Kalimantan have been rescheduled to 2007 from the fourth quarter of 2006. (robert)
