Santos spuds E. Java exploration well

Australian oil company Santos Limited said Thursday that Jeruk-1 wildcat exploration well in Sampang PSC offshore East Java, had reached the depth of 948 meters.
The well was spudded on November 21, 2003, with planned total depth of 5,172 meters. Jeruk-1 is located 35 kilometers west southwest of Oyong field and 40 kilometers south east of Surabaya. The company earlier said the prospect is oil prone with unrisked resource range of 6-207 million BOE.
Santos is the operator of Sampang PSC with 45 percent working interest. (alex)
