Santos spuds E. Java wildcat exploration well

Australian oil company Santos Limited said Thursday that it had spudded Maleo-1 gas wildcat exploration well within the Madura Offshore production-sharing contract (PSC) area in East Java on Tuesday.
Santos said the planned total depth was 850 meters.
Maleo-1 is located 75 kilometers east of the Oyong field in Sampang PSC, where Santos had earlier discovered significant oil and gas.
Santos is the operator of Madura Offshore PSC with 75 percent participating interest while top Canadian oil company Talisman Energy holds the remaining 25 percent. (alex)
