Santos to drill exploration wells in E. Java block

Australian oil, gas firm Santos Limited plans to drill two exploration wells in Sampang PSC offshore East Java by year-end.
The company?s presentation released Thursday said that it would drill the Pare 1 and Ubur-ubur 1 wells. Each of the prospect is estimated to have upside gas potential of up to 50 MMBOE.
The company also revealed that Wortel discovery, which is expected to come onstream in the second quarter of 2010 subject to final investment decision, would be able to produce gas at the rate of 40-60 MMCFD.
Wortel discovery is adjacent to Oyong oil, gas field, which is also located within Sampang PSC, enabling speedy development of the field.
Santos is the operator of Sampang PSC with 45 percent interest. (alex)
