Australia's oil and gas company Santos said it will temporarily halt the operation of its mobile offshore production unit (MOPU) in Maleo gas field, Sumenep, Madura for maintenance purpose.

?During the reparation work, there is possibility for temporary intermittent total shutdown for 15 days to ensure that the maintenance works run safely and efficiently.

Santos is working closely with BPMIGAS in minimizing the impact of the temporary shut-down of the production facility on the production process.

The Maleo gas field produces at an average of 120 million cubic feet per day (mmscfd). The gas from the block is purchased by PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) and delivered to consumers in East Java.

President & General Manager Santos, Marjolijn Wajong, said the maintenance is needed to meet the commitment of the company to carry out its oil and gas business safely in accordance with sustainable principles. (roffie/lucky)
