Santos unveils FPSO tender for AAL oil field project

Santos Northwest Natuna B.V., a unit of ASX-listed Santos Ltd, the operator of the North West Natuna PSC, in Natuna Sea, announced Thursday pre-qualification tender for the lease of one unit of floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel including operation and maintenance, to be used for the development of the Ande Ande Lumut (AAL) oil field in the PSC.

The company said in a tender announcement that FPSO will be located at Natuna Sea, Riau Province. It said that the scope of the services include, but not limited to the design and engineering services, fabrication / construction, conversion and integration, operation and maintenance of the FPSO.

The FPSO shall have absolute minimum working storage capacity of 570,000 barrels of oil (excluding ullage requirements). Typically this would require a hull with a total storage capacity of 1,000,000 barrels including due allowance for offspec oil and water handling. Firm rental period shall be 9 (nine) years with options for additional rental periods of 3 (three) + 2 (two) + (six (6) x one (1)) years.

The FPSO tender process comes after the Indonesian government gave its approval in late October, said ASX-listed AWE Ltd, which holds a 50 percent interest in the West Natuna PSC.

AWE said that completing the FPSO tender process is prerequisite for achieving final investment decision for the development of the AAL oilfield in the West Natuna PSC. First oil production from the AAL project is anticipated in 2017.
