Sarana Mandiri to open a 2,250-hectare coal mine in East Kalimantan

Speaking to reporters following the presentation of the environmental impact analysis proposal of the planned project with the Bulungan regency's authorities, the company's president director Safri IS said that the company would abide all the regulations to ensure that its mining activities would not damage the environment.
To ensure its mining activities are in line with the sustainable development concept, the company has cooperated with the University of Borneo in Tarakan to prepare and formulate the environmental impact analyses before beginning the mine construction, Safri said.
He said that the company's mining activities would be concentrated on three mining zones at Adal Keramat, Tangguh and Sempurna blocks, which has coal reserve layers of above 100 cm each. (*)
