SB Submarine Systems signs contract for Tangguh LNG project?s cable installation

SB Submarine Systems (SBSS) Co. Ltd, a joint venture between China Telecom and Global Marine Systems Limited, has signed a contract with Saipem SpA for the installation of power and remote communication cable at the Tangguh LNG project off the coast of Papua, in Bintuni Bay.
?The three cables will enable Saipem?s customer, BP and Partners' Tangguh LNG Project, to monitor two new gas production platforms remotely and benefit from the latest platform control technology, and improved operational costs,? Global Marine said in a statement Thursday.
According to the statement, the cable project is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2007 with an in field duration of 28 days. (Robert)
