IDX-listed energy and contractor firm PT.Indika Energy said its coal shipping and logistics unit PT.Sea Bridge Shipping (SBS) has started commercial operations in March 2009 by operating a Floating Loading Facility and Floating Crane at Adang Bay Anchorage off East Kalimantan.
CFO Aziz Armand told Petromindo.Com on Monday that the Floating Crane, with throughput capacity of 6-8 million tonnes per annum is dedicated solely to serve expansion of its sister company East Kalimantan coal miner PT.Kideco Jaya Agung (KJA).
KJA is in the process of ramping up capacity from 24MTPA currently to 30MTPA.
Indika said that the Indonesian-flagged transshipper operation was also to anticipate regulation that would only allow operations on national flagship vessels after 2010.
Indika has 46 percent stake in both SBS and KJA.(denny)
