SBSI labor union wants Vico to send top men for negotiation

The protesting employees of the suppliers of East Kalimantan oil and gas firm PT Vico Indonesia declined on Thursday to continue negotiation with the company unless it sends its top men, the local Suara Kaltim daily reported.
The protesting employees, grouped in the SBSI labor union, argued that the negotiator sent by Vico had no authority to make decision.
The SBSI gave Vico until September 19 to respond to the demand.
But the paper said that the both asides reached agreement to hold another round of negotiation in the near future and the protesting employees also agreed not to take a strike action and blockade company facilities or road.
The protesting employees staged a strike and blockaded Vico main gate last month to demand a higher salary and better welfare condition. (*)
