SBSS secures installation contract for Tangguh project

China?s leading provider of subsea cable installation services S.B. Submarine Systems Co. Ltd. (SBSS) said it has been awarded by PT Saipem a new contract for full cable installation works at the BP Tangguh Phase 2 project, in West Papua Province.
?The work scope includes the submarine installation and burial of 60km of composite power cables connecting several new offshore platforms to existing gas production facilities, with the project scheduled for delivery in Q3 2018,? SBSS said in a statement on Monday.
SBSS said it previously executed Phase 1 of the same project nearly ten years ago and, drawing on its extensive submarine cable installation capabilities and experience operating in the offshore sector, the company is looking forward to delivering another successful project to PT Saipem and their end-client BP, operator of the Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua, which is developing a third LNG train.
