SBY inaugurates billion dollar energy projects

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) on Wednesday inaugurated multi billion energy and mining projects and witnessed gas sales agreements in Subang, West Java.

Among the projects inaugurated by SBY are EPC signing for five coal-fired power plants, with combined output of 2,000 MW with total value of US$2.8 billion.

The five coal-fired power plants that will be built under the EPC agreements are:

? PLTU Banten I, which will be built in Cilegon with the capacity of 1 x 625 MW by a consortium of China National Technical Import and Export Corporation, China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation, Zhejiang Electric Power Design Institute and PT Rekayasa Industri, with total investment of US$428.79 million.

? PLTU Banten II, in Labuhan, Pandegelang, Banten with a capacity of 2 x 316 MW by the consortium of Chengda Engineering Corporation and Truba Jurong Engineering with total investment of about US$492.94 million.

? PLTU Jabar I, in Indramayu, West Java with a capacity of 3 x 330 MW by the consortium of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach), China National Electric Equipment Corporation (CNEEC) and PT Penta Adi Samudera with an investment of about US$863.22 million.

? PLTU Jatim II, in Paiton, Probolinggo, East Java with the capacity of 1 x 660 MW by the consortium of Harbin Power Engineering and PT Mitra Selaras Hutama Energy, with an investment of about US$466.25 million.

? PLTU Rembang, in Sluke, Rembang, Central Java with a capacity of 2 x 316 MW by the consortium of Zelan, PT Prianamaya and Tronoh with total investment about $558 million.

SBY also witnessed the signing of $800 million gas supply deal between PSCs such as Total, Medco and Pertamina.

Other projects that were inaugurated by SBY included Pertamina?s Pondok tengah and Subang oil and gas field development (US$343 million), Pertamina?s Balongan crude terminal expansion ($62 million), Cikampek fuel depot ($9 million), ConocoPhillips? Suban II gas project in Corridor Block, which will produce 2.2 TCF of gas during its lifetime with, Total E&P Indonesie?s Tunu Phase X and Tambora Phase II gas fields expansion, with investment of $730 million, a $26.5 million LPG plant in Bekasi that is owned by PT.Odira Energy.

Four coal-mining projects in Kalimantan and Sumatra with total investment of $235 million are also inaugurated. (godang)
