Scarabeo 7 rig, which was used to drill the Jangkrik-3 (JKK-3) development well in Muara Bakau block offshore East Kalimantan, operated by Italian oil and gas firm Eni SpA, is now being moved to Jangkrik North East (JNE) cluster.
?Eni plans to drill two development wells in JNE cluster,? an industry source told Petromindo.com.
Drilling of the JKK-3 well, the second development in the Jangkrik field, was completed late March.
The rig was also used previously to drill the Merakes exploration well in East Sepinggan block offshore East Kalimantan. ?The Scarabeo rig would be used to drill back-to-back wells,? the source said.
Scarabeo 7 rig is a fifth generation ultra deepwater semi-submersible type owned by Italian firm Saipem SpA, capable of operating in water depths of up to 5,000 feet.
Eni as operator holds a 55 percent interest of the block. GDF Suez owned a 45 percent stake until after the recent sale of 11.67 percent interest to PT Saka Energi Indonesia, a subsidiary of IDX-listed gas distribution firm PT PGN Tbk. The Jangkrik and Jangkrik North East fields, which are currently under development, are expected to produce its first gas in 2017.
