Scarabeo 7 rig, which was used to drill the Jangkrik-4 (JKK-4) development well in Muara Bakau block offshore East Kalimantan, operated by Italian oil and gas firm ENI SpA, is now being moved to Jangkrik-3 (JKK-3) drill site.

Drilling at the JKK-3 development well is expected to begin later this week, according to an industry source.

Drilling of the JKK-4 well, the first development in the Jangkrik field, was completed early December.

The rig was also used previously to drill the Merakes exploration well in East Sepinggan block offshore East Kalimantan. ?The Scarabeo rig would be used to drill back-to-back wells,? the source said.

Scarabeo 7 rig is a fifth generation ultra deepwater semi-submersible type owned by Italian firm Saipem SpA, capable of operating in water depths of up to 5,000 feet.

ENI is the operator and 55 percent interest holder of the Muara Bakau block, while the remaining 45 percent is held by GDF Suez.
