Schlumberger gets Masela drilling management project from INPEX

Top US oilfield services company Schlumberger Corp. said on Friday it had been awarded an Integrated Management Project by Japanese oil firm INPEX Corp for a remote three- to four-well deepwater appraisal campaign in the Masela block in Timor Sea.
INPEX and Schlumberger will design the drilling program and tender/contract packages for all services required for the work, supervise the execution of the work, and perform the post-drilling wrap-up.
Inpex, the operator and 100 percent interest holder of Masela Block would commence the drilling campaign first quarter of 2006. In 2002, INPEX confirmed a large natural gas accumulation in the block after two appraisal wells, Abadi-2 and Abadi-3, tested a total 32.4 million cubic feet a day of natural gas.
Schlumberger also said that during the third quarter of 2005, it had finished the world's two longest sand control well completions for ConocoPhillips? South Natuna Block B in Natuna Sea. (alex)
