Schneider Electric inaugurates new plant in Cikarang

France-based Schneider Electric, which specializes in energy management and automation, inaugurated on Wednesday its new plant in Cikarang, West Java, producing low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) devices.

Country President of Schneider Electric Indonesia, Xavier Denoly said in a statement that demand for quality LV and MV solution products will continue to increase amid growing electricity consumption in Indonesia due to economic growth and infrastructure development particularly as the government plans to develop a combined 35,000 MW power plants through 2019. Electricity consumption in the period of 2000-2014 grew by an average of 6.8 percent per year.

The new plant, which is an expansion of the company?s existing Cikarang facility, is an ?Engineer to Order? plant, which means the facility produces products based on the specific requirement of consumers. It is also the company?s largest LV and MV production facility in Asia.

The statement said that the plant will also export its products to countries such as Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, South Africa, Singapore, United Arab Emirate, The Philippines, and Cambodia.
