Scomi Marine gets coal shipping contract from Tenaga

Malaysian shipping firm Scomi Marine Berhad asid in Thursday that it had been awarded contract to transport coal from Australia, Indonesia, China and South Africa for TNB Fuel. TNB Fuel is a unit of Malaysian state electricity firm Tenaga Nasional.

The contract is estimated at RM49, 1 million per annum for a period of 3 years with 2-year extension option.

The contract will commence from 1 October 2006. The company is required to transport 500,000 metric tones of coal per year, subject to 20% variation at TNB Fuel's discretion. (alex)
