Scomi wins drilling fluids contract from Chevron

Malaysian firm Scomi Group Bhd has won its first Drilling Fluids (DF) contract worth RM56 million in Indonesia for major client, Chevron, Bernama reported.

The company said the contract was awarded to PT Scomi Oiltools in May this year and Scomi Oiltools commenced work in mid September.

The contract, providing integrated DF chemicals supply and engineering services is for duration of four years.

Scomi Oiltools, which has been operating in Indonesia for over 19 years, has previously provided DF products and services to Pertamina and BP West Java.

The contract requires Scomi Oiltools to formulate solutions for challenging drilling environments which include high temperature wells and acute angle drilling.

"With the backing of our research and development team at Scomi's Global Research and Technology Centre, that has formulated innovation solutions for high temperature and high pressure wells, we will be able to provide Chevron with practical solutions for their requirements," Scomi said.

"We have been working with Chevron in various parts of the world on Drilling Waste Management and this is the first contract of Scomi providing DF to Chevron," Scomi Oiltools president Steve Bracker said.(*)
