Scorpio on track to operate new transshipper by year-end

Singapore-based firm Scorpio Logistics is on track to start commercial operation of its offshore floating terminal/ transshipper (OTF) by year-end, the company?s official said.

?The OTF will operate soon,? director Daniele Pratolongo told Petromindo.Com on Friday that any potential clients can contact Scorpio Logistics directly to use the OTF.

He did not give further detail.

In June 2010, CFO Andrew Hooper-Nguyen told Petromindo.Com that the OTF, which will be named ?Mara? is currently under construction in China. The OTF will have four floating cranes, capable of loading 40,000-60,000 tons of coal per day.

According to Hooper-Nguyen the transshipper will be placed in Samarinda water, East Kalimantan, along with its other OTF ?Zeus?, which has been operating since August 2009.

He said the Company is in talks with several potential clients to use the OTF ?Mara?. (denny)
