Upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas reported a second leak on the Grissik–Duri (GD) gas pipeline operated by PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia (TGI), delaying the full recovery of gas supply to the Duri area.

Deputy for Exploitation at SKK Migas, Taufan Marhaendrajana, said the latest leak occurred at KP 294 of the GD pipeline and will require an additional three to five days of repair work.

“TGI has experienced another leak at a different location. It will take another three to five days to fix,” Taufan told Petromindo on Friday (January 9).

He added that gas supply to Duri has not yet returned to normal following the second incident.

Earlier, TGI announced that repairs to the GD pipeline at KP 222 in Indragiri Hilir, Riau—where a fire broke out on January 2—had been completed, and that gas transmission had resumed normal operations starting January 8, 2026.

The GD pipeline disruptions have affected gas distribution in parts of Sumatra, particularly Riau, and disrupted upstream oil and gas operations. Crude oil production at the Rokan Block, operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), fell to around 50,000–60,000 barrels per day from about 150,000 bpd due to reduced gas supply required for power generation and steam injection at the Duri Field.

To limit production losses during the repair period, SKK Migas diverted part of the gas supply from EMP Bentu to support operations at the Rokan Block.
