Security at Balongan refinery plant tightened

State owned oil and gas Pertamina has tightened the security control at the Balongan refinery plant in Indramayu, West Java to prevent fuel thefts in the refinery complex,, Koran Tempo reported on Thursday.

Suwandi, the spokesman of Pertamina?s Production Unit IV which is responsible for the operation of the refinery plant said all the people entering the complex were checked to ensure that the refinery plant would be free from thefts.

A number of cases related to stealing of fuel from the refinery?s pipelines have been reported to the local police but the number continues increasing.

The government urged operators of oil and gas facilities to improve their security controls early this week following the massive explosion which hit several entertainment centers in Bali on Saturday night. The explosion killed over 180 tourists mostly from Australia. (*)
