Security officers dismiss anti-Freeport protesters in Timika

Security officers from the elite mobile brigade police force and local police unit in Mimika managed on Wednesday to dismiss by force anti-PT Freeport Indonesia demonstrators which had launched a road blockade at "check point 1" area in the Timika-Tembagapura highway.
State news agency Antara reported that the protesters intially gave a fight by using bow and arrows, wounding one police officer, during the incident. But he police managed to dismiss the protesters. With help officers from Freeport, the security officers are now cleaning up the road. Traffic on the highway has now turned to normal again.(*)
