Coal mining company PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara (PKN) said that it is on track to start up its mine mouth power plant with a capacity 1x7.5 MW in Sekayan, East Kalimantan by September of this year as planned.

President Director Jeffrey Mulyono told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that currently the development of the project is entering the assembling stage.

?The development of foundation has been completed; the chimney has been built and the boiler has been brought to the site. So we just stepped into assembling stage, and we expect to start commissioning by the end of August,? he said adding that the power plant will consume coal with a calorific value of 3200 kcal.

Jeffrey is optimistic that by September, the US$15 million project will come onstream.

?About 4 MW of the power from the power plant will be used to meet our needs and 2 MW will be sold to PLN,? he said, referring to state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Persero.
