Oil and gas firm PT Sele Raya Merangin Dua (SRMD) has completed drilling at the West Belani-10 well in the Merangin II block, according to a top official of the firm.
The Merangin II block is located in three regencies, namely Musi Rawas, Musi Rawas Utara, both in South Sumatra province, and Sorolangun in Jambi province.
?Drilling at the WB-10 well has been completed, reaching a total depth of 2,010 feet. Its logging results are better than those of the WB-9 wells,? the company?s President and General Manager Juchiro Tampi told Petromindo.com.
He said that previous drilling at the WB-9 well led to discovery of oil, flowing at a rate of 300 bopd.
The two wells are drilled using a 750 HP rig owned by PT Daqing Jaya Petroleum Engineering, capable of drilling up to 6,500 feet, Juchiro said.
The Merangin II block was awarded to Sele Raya in October 2003. Sele Raya operates the block with a 44.6 percent interest, while the remaining is held by Merangin B.V. (35.4 percent) and Sinochem Merangin Ltd. (20 percent).
Aside from the Merangin II block, Sele Raya also operates two other oil blocks ? Belida oil block in South Sumatra and Blora block in Pati, Central Java -- which are still in exploration stage.
