Oil and gas firm PT Sele Raya Merangin Dua (SRMD) is planning to drill the North Tampi-1 (NT-1) exploration well and the Lumbian-2 delineation well, both in the Merangin II block, according to a top official of the firm.
?We will spud the NT-1 exploration well in June 2015,? the company?s President and General Manager Juchiro Tampi told Petromindo.com.
Previously, Senior Manager for Exploration at Sele Raya Eko Arianto said that the drilling of the Lumbian well is planned to be carried out in October of this year. Drilling budget for each well is between US$4-5 million.
Eko added that previous drilling at the WB-9 well led to discovery of oil, flowing at a rate of 400 bopd. The firm is currently conducting the testing of WB-10 well.
The wells are drilled using a 750 HP rig owned by PT Daqing Jaya Petroleum Engineering, capable of drilling up to 6,500 feet, he added.
The Merangin II block is located in three regencies, namely Musi Rawas, Musi Rawas Utara, both in South Sumatra province, and Sorolangun in Jambi province.
The block was awarded to Sele Raya in October 2003. Sele Raya operates the block with a 44.6 percent interest, while the remaining is held by Merangin B.V. (35.4 percent) and Sinochem Merangin Ltd. (20 percent).
