PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) has targeted to complete the development of the 262-km pipeline stretching from Semarang in Central Java to Gresik in East Java by the end of 2014.
Once the project has been completed, Pertagas will become the dominant gas trader in along Semarang-Gresik area, Pertagas Corporate Secretary Eko Agus Sarjono told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.
He said the project is basically faced no obstacles except that state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara, which was expected to become a major customer for Pertagas, has told the firm it would not buy gas from the pipeline as it is focused on coal as fuel for its power plants.
The gas is expected to get gas supplies from the Cepu block and other fields along the pipeline and the gas will be distributed to consumers in Central Java and East Java. The pipeline is designed with the capacity of channeling up to 500 mmscfd. From Semarang to Gresik, the pipeline will pass areas such as Purowdadi, Cepu, Bojonegoro and Tuban.
The firm has carried out the EPC tenders for the project and the company?s President Director Gunung Sardjono announced in July this year the winners of the tenders will be decided in either in August or September this year. The firm however has yet to announce the tender winners.
