SembLog Citranusa, the 70:30 joint venture company between Singapore Offshore Petroleum Services and Jakarta Stock Exchange listed company PT Citra Tubindo, on Saturday celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its new offshore logistics supply base at Batam, Indonesia.

The groundbreaking ceremony was witnessed by Guests-of-Honour, the Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Rini Soewandi.

President Director of SembLog Citranusa, Kris Wiluan said, "We are happy to have this ceremony to start the construction of our new offshore supply base at Batam's Kabil Industrial Estate. This is a timely development as the oil and gas industry's drilling and exploration activities gather pace in Indonesia."

Located in Batam, southwest of Singapore, the 20-hectare supply base will house facilities, including a 2,000 square-meter warehouse, a 53,000 square-meter open yard and a jetty with docking capacity of approximately 30,000 dead weight tons. The supply base will offer a one-stop solution for logistics and supply chain management to support the oil and gas activities in Indonesia.

The supply base is scheduled for completion by August 2003. (robert)
