Semen Gresik appoints Kawasaki, Rekayasa power plant EPC contractor

IDX-listed state cement maker PT Semen Gresik (Persero) Tbk said it has appointed a consortium comprised of Japanese firm Kawasaki Heavy Industry and state engineering firm PT Rekayasa Industri EPC contractor to construct 2x35MW coal-fired power plant in South Sulawesi.

Corporate Secretary Sunardi Prionomurti told Petromindo.Com on Thursday that the appointment was made in June and construction works would commence in November this year with operation start-up seen in the first half of 2012.

The power plant would be used by Semen Gresik?s South Sulawesi subsidiary PT Semen Tonasa.

Sunaradi said the Company would invest US$114 million to build the power plant. (denny)
