The Sengkang LNG plant in South Sulawesi, which is now under construction, is expected to come onstream in mid-2016, according to an industrial source who is familiar with the project.

?Based on what I saw when I visited the site in the past December, the project will only come into operation in mid-2016,? the source said.

In May 2015, Arief Riyanto, a senior official at SKK Migas, projected the LNG plant would start operation in August or September of last year.

The project initially consists of one modular LNG train with a capacity of 0.5 mtpa; an LNG storage facility; and an LNG loading facility. The capacity is expandable to 2 mtpa with three additional trains. The plant is developed under the downstream scheme, meaning that the project?s costs will not be subject to cost recovery.
