Sengkang LNG plant on track to start production

Australia-listed energy firm Energy World Corporation Limited reported that its Sengkang LNG project in South Sulawesi is on track to start first phase of commercial production by the second quarter of 2013.

?We expect our first modular LNG train to commence commercial production by the second quarter of 2013. We expect the remaining three modular LNG trains, subject to gas field development, to commence commercial production of LNG at quarterly intervals thereafter, providing a total LNG capacity for the Sengkang LNG Project of 2 million tons per annum (mtpa),? the company said in recent report.

?We have received expressions of strong interest from both domestic and international buyers for the LNG to be produced from the Sengkang LNG Project,? it added.

In June 2011, upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS approved EWC?s plan of development for the Walanga, Sampi-Sampi and Bonge Gas fields within the Sengkang PSC area, allowing the company to supply gas to the Sengkang LNG project.

?The current status of this project is that site works have commenced and major equipments have shipped from our suppliers and currently en route to Sengkang,? EWC said.

EWC through its subsidiary Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Limited has 100 percent interest in Sengkang PSC, which will supply gas to Sengkang LNG project, which is also 100 percent owned by EWC.
