Upstream authority SKK Migas said the Sengkang LNG plant in South Sulawesi operated by ASX-listed Energy World Corporation (EWC) is projected to come onstream in August or September of this year.

?God willing, Sengkang LNG will come into operation in August or September. All its gas will be supplied to PLN?s power plants,? Head of Gas Commerce Division at SKK Migas Arief Riyanto told Petromindo.com.

According to Arief, the upstream side of Sengkang has been ready, while the completion of onstream aspects of the project depends PLN?s readiness to take gas from the LNG plant.

The project initially consists of one modular LNG train with a capacity of 0.5 MTPA; an LNG storage facility; and an LNG loading facility. The capacity is expandable to 2 MTPA with three additional trains. The plant is developed under the downstream scheme, meaning that the project?s costs will not be subject to cost recovery.
