ASX-listed energy firm Energy World Corporation Limited reported that the first synchronization of the new Siemens sas turbine with a 65 MW gross capacity, 60 MW net capacity at its Sengkang 120MW Power Plant Expansion project, at GT22 site, was successfully achieved on January 28.

Stability, vibration and temperatures checks in accordance with the manufacturer?s requirement were undertaken during this synchronization process, the firm said in a statement.

Performance test and continuous commissioning are now being carried out to achieve the commercial operation of the unit which is anticipated to occur within the next 5-7 days.

The GT22 will generate 60 MW into PLN?s South Sulawesi grid and as the one and only gas-fired power generation it will provide significant benefits to the province as it will not only supply additional power but also provide cleaner energy to the area.

Situated around 250 km northeast of Makassar, the Sengkang Power Plant has produced 195 MW of electricity since 1997 with additional 120 MW under the Sengkang Expansion Project.

The entire power output is sold under long-term power purchase agreement with PLN, a state-owned electricity enterprise which is a sole power distributor nationwide.
