Seven firms register for Java pipeline tender

Seven firms have registered themselves with oil and gas downstream authority BPH Migas to take part in the tender process for the contracts to build two pipeline projects in on Java Island.

The firms were PT PGN, Moeladi, Rekayasa Industri, Punjj Lloyd, Giga Intrax, Agung Mindo Sungkul and Fluor Daniels Indonesia, BPH Migas? chairman Tubagus Haryono announced on Friday.

The two pipeline projects are the 290-km Cirebon-Semarang line and the 390-km Semarang-Gresik.

The pipelines, which are estimated to cost around Rp 4 trillion to Rp 6 trillion in investment, will be built with a transportation capacity of 350-500 million standard cubic feet per day.

Tubagus said the seven firms registered themselves by the deadline of July 7. They had taken bidding documents from the agency from July 2 to July 6. The firms have to submit their bidding documents to the agency between July 21 and November 25 this year. BPH Migas will clarify the data presented on the documents from November 28 through January 31, 2006 before selecting preferred bidders from February 1 to February 28, 2006. On March 1, the agency will announce the preferred bidders. From March 2 through March 31, 2006 the agency will ask about the bidders? readiness before deciding on the winners of the tender.

BPH Migas? natural gas director Nafrizal Kumbang said aside from the seven, there were several other firms who had earlier voiced interest in the project but had yet to register themselves with the agency. They are Petronas, Pertamina, Trans-Java Pipeline, Wali Niaga, Mitsubishi and MCC Competition. (Godang)
