State-owned electricity company PT PLN has named seven companies to go to the next bidding round to be selected as the winning contractors for the development of the Sumsel (South Sumatra) 9 and 10 mine-mouth power plant projects, Kontan reported on Tuesday.

The paper quoted PLN Director for Primary Energy and Strategic Procurement Amin Subekti as saying that the seven companies selected via recent prequalification tender include coal miners PT Adaro Energy Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Baramulti Suksessarana Tbk, PT Hanson International Tbk, PT Adi Coal, and overseas firms Mitsui & Co, and International Power GDF Suez.

He said that the seven firms are expected to submit their proposals for the 2x600 MW Sumsel 9 and 1x600 MW Sumsel 10 projects by August 18 in the hope that PLN can complete the evaluation in September and October to appoint the winning bidders.

The winning bidders are then expected to make financial closure in six months so that the projects can start construction in the first semester of 2016, Amin explained. (*)
