The seven are among the 15 oil, gas and coal bed methane (CBM) contractors whose names were recently published in an advertisement on the media by SKK Migas for their failure to meet their exploration commitment. Through the advertisement, SKK Migas summoned the firms to report to the agency.
The seven contractors PT Insan Bina Perkasa, which holds the contract on Alas Jati PSC, Amstelco Karapan Pte Ltd (Karapan PSC), Aed Rombebai B.V. Gunawan, Head of Hydrocarbon Division at SKK Migas, said.
?Four of the firms are affiliated with CBM Asia,? Brahmantyo said.
The companies generally said they were not long able to meet their exploration commitment due to the lack of funds.
?They are throwing towel (into the ring),? he said.
He said the six years of exploration period of the working areas have expired, except for Kapuas Hulu I CBM PSC.
According to Brahmantyo, SKK Migas insisted that the contractors have to meet their commitment and pay fines and the names of the contractors, including their problems, will be reported to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
