Despite Indonesia and China returning from holidays last week, activity remaining limited today in the Asian thermal markets. Participants were watching to see if last week's downwards price movements would be maintained before engaging with the market, sources said. In Indonesian market activity is expected to resume in full force by 13 June as people return from the break. In the region of Samarinda in East Kalimantan, flash floods are understood to have affected production at some mines though it is unclear how bad the impact is. An offer was heard at $36.60/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a later June, early July loading Panamax.
Paper
M42 paper, as listed on SGX, was bid at $35.35/t and offered at $36.00/t for June, while July was bid at $35.30/t and offered at $36.00/t. August was bid at $35.05/t and offered at $36.00/t. Further out, Q3 2019 was bid at $35.00/t and offered at $36.35/t, while Q4 2019 was bid at $35.00/t and offered at $36.60/t. A bid for Q1 2020 was reported at $36.00/t against an offer at $37.75/t.
