Market activity remains light across Asian thermal markets, with buyers across the region reportedly well-stocked and renewed concerns of a tightening of Chinese import restrictions. There were signs that prices may be ticking higher for prompt loading Indonesian cargoes, with some traders seeking tonnes to cover cargoes lost through force majeure brought about by the recent heavy rains and flooding in Kalimantan. For low-rank, there was talk of unconfirmed trades at $36.00-36.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a July loading geared vessel. A bid was also heard at $36.00/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a July loading Supramax and $37.00/t FOB, same basis for a Panamax.
Paper
June M42 paper, listed on SGX, was bid at $35.35 against an offer at $36.20, while July was bid at $34.95 and offered at $36.10. September was bid at $34.55. Further out Q3 2019 was bid at $34.20 and offered at $36.50.
