SGX M42F Thermal Coal - Daily Update 26 August 2019
Tuesday, August 27 2019 - 06:09 PM WIB
August month-to date:
Futures volume at 107kt, open interest at 162kt
Total volume since April 2018: 1.16 million metric tonnes
Physical
The weather in Kalimantan remains dry, which has done little to improve water levels on major waterways across the region. High winds are also understood to be creating sea-swells, which is hampering some loading operations. For low-rank, there was talk of a deal being done today at around $31.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a September loading geared vessel. This was a similar level to where deals were reported towards the end of last week.
Paper
The Bank Holiday in London today meant there was very little paper activity. Markets are expected to return to normal tomorrow, although there were still a couple of M42 markets reported. M42 paper, listed on SGX, was bid for September at $30.95 and offered at $31.50, with October bid at $30.95 and offered at $31.45. (ends)
