Physical

Prices for Indonesian material have firmed across the board over the week as demand increases and with near-term supply constrained by wet weather. Multiple market participants said that major miners had sold out of cargoes for April loading, amid reports of at least one miner declaring force majeure on shipments for the month due to flooding at the mines. Several producers said that heavy rain in the past 2-3 weeks has slowed production and hauling activity. Traded prices for low-rank material rose steadily throughout the week in a range of $37.25-42.00/t FOB, basis 4,200 kc GAR, for April loading geared vessels.

Paper

Asian paper trading remained active over the week, with M42 transacting via SGX through to June at generally higher levels week on week. A deal for March went through at $37.85/t, stable on the week from $37.50-37.90/t. Trades for April closed at $40-25-40.90/t, also up on the week from $37.20-37.75/t. May M42 traded at $40.75-42.75/t, rising sharply in the latter part of the week and compared with $37.50-39.25/t in the week prior. A deal for June concluded at $41.00/t.
