Indonesian prices remained soft this week, generally weighed upon by weak demand from China. However, some market participants were still seeking cover for tonnage disrupted by the recent flooding. Deals for July loading Panamaxes settled at $36.80-37.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR. A week back, deals were heard at $37.00-37.25/t FOB, same basis, for July loading Panamaxes. Geared vessels loading in July transacted at $35.80-35.75/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, down on the week from $36.50/t FOB, same basis. Further out, an offer for August loading geared material was heard at $36.00/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, though no bids were heard against. On a delivered basis, July arrival Panamaxes into Guangdong transacted at $43.00-43.50/t CFR, basis 3,800 kc NAR, stable to $43.00-43.30/t CFR, same basis, last week.
Paper
M42, as listed on SGX and ICE, traded lower on the week for July at $36.15 and later at $35.65, compared with $36.25. Bids for August were reported at $35.00 and offers at $36.00, while September was bid at $34.90 and offered at $36.00. (ends)
