Prices were understood to be firming in Asian thermal markets, particularly for Indonesian material, with increased interest from China. Low sulphur material was heard to have traded on last Friday at $44.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for an April loading Panamax. There was talk of deals concluded at higher levels, although these could not be confirmed at the time of writing. Offers were very limited for geared vessels, with one reported at $46.50/t FOB, basis 3800 kc NAR, for April loading.

May M42 traded in the morning session at $43.75 for May, up from where it last traded on Friday at $43.00. It later traded at the same level in the afternoon. June also traded today at $43.00 and then $42.50. During the day, April was bid at $37.00, while May was bid at $43.50 and offered $43.85, and June was heard bid at $41.80 and offered at $43.75. A spread for April vs May was heard bid at M42 minus $1.00 against an offer at M42 flat.
