Physical

With Australia and China both out for national holidays, activity in Asia's thermal markets was limited. Suppliers of Indonesian material said that it had been rather quiet today in view of the long weekend. Many key producers said they were out of stock until the end of May. "Buyers are asking what cargoes we are left with for spot settlements. Indicative bids seem flat on the week," a Jakarta-based trader said. Late last week a bid was reported at $44.00/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a June loading Supramax. Several miners in South and East Kalimantan continue to contend with rain, which has resulted in slippage problems. "This is forcing miners to focus more on meeting term contracts, not much spot to offer, if at all," a key sub-bituminous producer said.

Paper

Paper markets were also quiet with, Australia, China and the UK all out on national holidays. Values for prompt paper were judged to be little changed from where they closed last week.
