Buying activity for Indonesian low-rank material picked up this week, in what appears to be an end of year push from traders, but many Indonesian producers appear to be sold out. Deals for low-rank in December loading geared vessels settled at $33.20-34.40/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, rising on the week from $33.25-34.00/t FOB, same basis. January loading geared vessels of similar material transacted at $34.10-34.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR. On a China-delivered basis, low-rank coal traded at $41.50/t CFR, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for January arrival Panamaxes, up on the week from $41.00/t CFR.
Paper
Trading activity was slow for M42, as traded via SGX. The Q1-2020 contract was valued at $34.20, easing slightly from $34.30. Fair value for February 2020 averaged $34.30.
