A year after its operation, Shell Indonesia?s lubricants oil blending plant (LOBP), located in Marunda Center, Bekasi, West Java Province, has started producing lubricants for the shipping industry.

The plant?s production volume has now doubled, producing 99 types of lubricants.

Alex Marpaung, Lubricants Supply Chain Manager at Shell Indonesia, said on Wednesday that among of the lubricants produced by the LOBP now includes three brands of lubricants for the shipping industry namely Shell Argina, Shell Gadinia and Shell Melina. The first two type of lubricants are for small to medium-sized vessels and static electrical plant. Meanwhile, Shell Melina is multi-function lubricants for diesel-engine vessels.

Shell Indonesia said that the production of lubricants for the shipping industry comes amid growing demand at home as the government aims to boost shipping transportation following the launch of the so-called sea toll road program.

The company said that lubricants produced by the Marunda LOBP now accounts for about 70 percent of Shell Indonesia?s lubricant products sold at home.
