Shell plans to slash RI gasoline prices

Royal Dutch Shell Plc will cut prices of its fuel products sold in Indonesia by as much as 8.6 percent to compete with state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, The Jakarta Post reported Saturday.

Shell will reduce the price of Shell Super, a gasoline product with research octane number 92, to Rp 5,450 (60 U.S.cents) a liter, Fathia Syarif, a spokeswoman of the company?s Indonesian unit, said Friday in Jakarta. That is 7.6 percent lower than Pertamina?s price for a similar product at Rp 5,900 a liter.

Shell will cut the price of its RON-95 gasoline to Rp 5,850 a liter, lower than that sold by Pertamina at Rp 5,900 a liter, the company said in an emailed statement.

The price of the company?s Shell diesel fuel will be reduced 0.8 percent to Rp 6,150 a liter. The new prices will take effect on Sept. 16. (*)
