Shell temporarily closes four gas stations

PT Shell Indonesia, the local subsidiary of oil and gas giant Royal Dutch Shell, has temporarily closed four gas stations following the drop in sale of non-subsidized fuels, the company?s spokeswoman said.
Fathia Syarif said as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia that the four gas stations are located in Pasar Minggu in South Jakarta, Matraman in East Jakarta, Serpong in Banten and Suprapto in Central Jakarta.
She said that after several years of operation, the company is now conducting an evaluation of its gas stations.
As of December 2009, Shell operates 36 retail outlets in Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Tangerang-Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area and Surabaya, East Java.
Shell became the first company to enter the country's retail fuel market following the removal of Pertamina's exclusive rights in the distribution of fuel in the country in late 2005. (*)
