Royal Dutch/Shell is staging ambitious plan to build some 400 gas stations that sell fuel in Java within the next four years, downstream oil, gas watchdog BPH Migas said Wednesday.
BPH Migas chairman Tubagus Haryono told reporters that Shell would build the first two gas stations in Karawaci, in Banten province and in Jakarta this year. At first, the gas stations would only sell high octane fuel.
Tubagus said Shell would build it storage depot in Cilegon.
Tubagus did not elaborate the amount of capital Shell would invest.
High-octane fuel is currently sold at market price.
Under the oil and gas law, Pertamina?s fuel retail monopoly would be dismantled early next year.
Apart from Shell, the government had also granted downstream retail licences to Petronas and PT. Elnusa, a Pertamina subsidiary. (godang)
